Fuzzy live rock
I've had a 20g long tank set up for about 6 months, the tank recently became pretty dirty and has cleaned up some since i put a protein skimmer on it but as the tank cleared my boyfriend and i noticed that the live rock is growing something that looks like a fuzz, its not hair algae but look similar to it. Any ideas on what it is and how to fix it?

I think it's algae of some sort but don't know. I've got the same stuff in my tank that's been sitting neglected while I am finishing the build on my 125 gallon. Anyone else know what it is for sure?

Looks like hydroids to me. Filter feeders, kinda like sponges.
If it is hydroids there is no need to fix anything, they are beneficial to the tank. Last edited by reefgoddess808; 08/17/2013 at 12:11 PM. Reason: added info |
