Smallest octopus and tank size?

I would like to keep a ceph, however I'm a college student. Funds and space in my apartment are limited. What is the smallest ceph, octo or cuttle, that I could attain and what would be the minimum tank size?

Thank you for your input.

O.mercatoris would do nicely in a 10 gallon tank. They can be escape artists though and you need to seal the tank well. I raised one from egg a few years ago and you would be amazed at what they can squeeze though.

Richard from tampa bay saltwater one of the sponsers for reef central can catch them. They are usually available around november from what he last told me. As I said before a 10 will work fine but if you can go the extra room a 15 gallon would give you a better buffer and look nicer IMO.

Nocturnal, about three months if you get an adult. Not much fun.
