My new Oceanic Tech 120 Gallon Build
Hello Everyone!
I am new to the forum. I recently have decided to upgrade from my 100gallon Reef Tank (acrylic and very ugly cabinetry). The price was right, and I started this expensive hobby right after I graduated from college. Fast forward 3 years later here I am. That same tank, with healthy coral and happy fish, and an ugly tank. What is really annoying about my current set up is the amount of fire fighting I have to do to keep my nitrates down. I never set up a proper sump, and decided to go with canister filters, which honestly have worked just fine with regular cleanings and maintenance. I have an Ehime Pro 2 for bio, and Fluval for chemical and mechanical. I run chemi-pure and purigen with some carbon and nitrate rocks. The goal with my Tech 120 is to run a more efficient, easier, safer (I am in earthquake country), prettier, and more stable tank. Here is my build so far --Tank: Tech 120 Purchased! Arriving on Thursday 11/12 --Skimmer: Super Reef Octo Xp 2000 (bought yesterday!) 11/07 --Sump: Undecided LR/Cheeto/Sand etc --Return Pump: External, something very quiet.... Undecided --Lights: Ice cap 48" Reef Illuminations Fixture w/ 2x250W MH & 2x54W T5 & 4 LED LunarLites --Wave maker 2x MP40s --Phosphate reactor --Possibly one UV sterilizer for water polishing. For now I will be dosing a 2 part solution for calcium....Once I get more sps I will ad a calcium reactor/ and RO/DI top off system. Anyhow, that's all for now. Here are a few pictures! The Ugly Tank! RBTA W Buddy: Look what hitched on to my Candy Cane Coral! |
