Water bill

Ok so for the first time I made 19 gallons of RODI water last month using a 5 stage filtration system. My monthly water bill averages at $35-$40. How in the world did my water bill arrive at $93 this past month???

Filled a 265g with house water, then drained it and filled it with ro/di water bill. $56. But your ro produces twice as much waste water as ro water. I'm not sure on the exact math

I made a lot more water than that last month and my water bill was only $60. That includes watering the lawn twice a week as well. I'd look into trying to find a leaky sink or toilet.

Most systems have a rejection rate of 4/1 or so.
The money is going down your drain.

I also forgot to mention, I catch all the reject water and use it as lawn water.

I too got a high water bill and I am in new tampa. Normally my bill is $60. I make about 100 gallon of RO a month for water changes. I too water lawn and use rejection water for lawn. I think I am going to call them tomorrow.

I make around 400 gallons of RO water a month, have the waste water fill my pool and I average around 100 a month in Oldsmar. Oh, and that includes my trash and reclaimed irrigation water

That's way to much. Water in florida is a bout $1 per 1,000 gallon plus $4 per 1,000 gal waste water treatment charge. Typical RO is 2:1 reject/ro. With that, 300 gallon RO costs you about $5.

also check your auto shut off valve if you have your filter connected permanently. Bad auto shut off valve continues to leak water while you are not making any RO.

Sometimes the water company doesn't check the meter for several months and pro rates the bill. Then they check and adjust for the overage. I use 1000 gal at my office every month and I had a 17000 gal bill a few years ago and no issues were found with leaks.

This - my bill is the same every month except when they occasionally true it up. I would double check your unit, of course, but it's probably almost completely unrelated to your RO/DI unit.

I make about 100 gallons a month average between top off and water changes, my water/sewer bill is never over $60/mo. I suspect an issue with your plumbing.

It could also be a misread by the water company. They sent me a $380 water bill one time. I called them and they rechecked it....real bill was only $68

Depending on your jurisdiction, billing systems can be automated. If it saw a spike in your usage it may be billing you for anticipated future usage. Utility billing can be complicated. Call and get it sorted out.

Do you trust your neighbors ....I have heard of neighbors using their next door neighbors hose bib and also power from their outside outlets especially when they know your nine to five schedule they can use it until you get home....people are scumbags....

Pinellas county is $5 per 1,000 gallons. Alot of times they average your bill not read your meter. on the bill should say when last meter read was. see if its recent and note the change between the reading and currently. average that by the days elapsed between the two.

and if the meter as a small red arrow to the left that is the flow meter. if no water is running then it should be still not spinning.

a "small" leak 1,000 gallons a month is only a $5 increase, filling a 20,000g pool like +$100

Having the well is a lifesaver here. I have never even calculated how much RO water we make every month...but do not get me started on the electric bill around here.

If u have enough psi add a second membrain. Rough to it so the waste water goes into 2nd membrain. U will cut your waste water in half

Even with a waste water of 4:1 or 5:1 my water bill shouldn't be that high for using 19 gallons of RODI. If it was truly 5:1 that would be a total of approx 114 gallons. They suggested to check for leaks so I will check today aroundd the perimeter of the condo. Nothing seems to be leaking inside.
