Do magnets rust?
Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone has ever glued magnets on their frag plugs or rocks and placed them on the glass. Which magnets did you use and did you ever noticed it they rusted? Are there "safe" magnets for salt water or any would work?
https://www.amazon.com/ETO-MAGNETIC-...A2DFG8UZH4NS8K Found this on the decription: LOOK GREAT ON ANY SURFACE - Made from Brushed nickel silver finishing material, these stainless steel magnets for refrigerator are specially designed to look ultra-attractive on your fridge, washing machine, dashboard etc. Any info would help. Thanks |

Bare magnets rust big time (including Neodymium). Most Neodymium magnets come with a nickle plating that makes them corrosion resistant. That said I think your best bet is to add an extra layer of protection and cover them with epoxy. If you heat the epoxy just after you apply it it will become very low viscosity and can make a light coating that wont reduce the magnets strength too much.

The Alternative Reef makes these magnetic frag stations in all sizes. They're fantastic and I've been using them for many years. They bring good dimension to the reef, utilize unused space and the coral encrusts on them just like rock.

Ceramic magnets do not rust and do not need to be coated
Neodymium magnets all rust!
