Sick Blasto Coral?
I have had this blasto coral for almost 8 months and it was doing perfect in my tank. Recently it has been closed up. At first it looked like it was just growing, and it still kind of does because there are new polyps growing but it just doesn't open up. There are no other corals around the blasto coral that could sting it.
I have 2 Ocellaris Clownfish and 1 Tomini tang in a 55 gallon. I run T5 HO, and my lighting has not recently changed. I have a Fluval 405, and an Aqua C Remora protein skimmer, and 2 Koralia powerheads. All of my tests have been coming up good also. Calcium: 400ppm Alkalinity: 9 dKH Salinity: 1.026 Temperature: 78 F pH: 8.2 Nitrate: 0 ppm Nitrite: 0 ppm Ammonia: 0 ppm If there is anything that comes to mind about this coral, please let me know. I moved it into the 'shade' yesterday and that did not seem to help. Thanks! |

I tried to put it into Reef Discussion but it kept telling me to log in...this is the only place where it wouldn't take me to the log in screen.

Like everyone said, LPS...
But... My blasto has nearly been destroyed twice by "reef safe" fish. They must be tasty. I had a hippo tang and a blenny both tear into it. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. In fact, I had to watch it happen repeatedly to believe it, that's why it was almost destroyed instead of just slightly damaged. I'm not saying that's your problem. But don't rule anything out! I can't get your pics to expand. Any tissue recession? Do they still have a feeding response if you target them while pumps are off?
