I asked Adam from Vertex in email these questions.

1. Can I use generic/non-Vertex float switches?
2. Can I use non-Vertex probes?
3. How can I control my VorTech pumps?

His responses.

1. Yes you could potentially use non vertex float switches. They use the mini Din connection. Our pin designations are posted in the Cerebra forum for DIY use and making sure other switches can be used.

2. Yes, our multibar will accept any probe using the standard BNC connection method.

3. Pumps can be controlled directly through the controlled outlets or through the 1-10v input. We are working with third party pump manufacturers to ensure seamless integration. This is ongoing, so if your pump isn't fully controllable now, it will be in the near future.

Asked this in the other thread but no one knew the answer -
Does anyone know if the built in 1-10V outlets are actually 1-10V or 0-10V? Someone mentioned that many LED lights use a 1-10V signal, so Vertex may have been planing on that use, but many pumps (and some LED drivers) use a 0-10V signal, so I'm wondering if you can use the built in variable outlet to control them or or you need to bet the separate box with 0-10V output

Well it looks like my unit "might" finally ship out on Friday. This still remains to be seen....at any rate hopefully I can get it by the weekend to start putting it through some testing on my mantis shrimp tank. I'm gunna start off slow with just the lighting and have simulated situations that will use PH reading and conductivity readings (like trigger some "virtual" pumps based on readings, etc). Anxious to try it out and see how it really compares to my Apex. Should be fun !!

That's taken a while but that's great news. What size tank and what kind of mantis do you have? That's exactly what I would be putting it on too. My 20 long G. smithii tank. Except it's on top of like a book case so mounting and placement of equipment has to be discreet.

I have a peacock in a custom made 35 gallon tall acrylic tank. It has about an 11" sand bed that the peacock has built a nice home in. I know folks always want to put mantis shrimp in a long tank, but mine really seems to love being in the deep sand. Only comes out to eat. Stays mainly ant the front entrance with his head poking out. I've had him in there for almost 6 years now. I'll be mounting the Cerebra next to his tank. Maybe he'll come out and watch the screen.lol.

yeah mine should be arriving tomorrow as well.

I'm curious about that mantis shrimp. Do you have a build thread?

Mines been sitting in town on a truck since Friday too. Hopeful it will arrive today. My concern is that is this heat 95+ that I also have conductivity calibration solution in the order. I'm worried that the fluid could go bad in this heat. Does anyone know if that is possible or am I just worrying over nothing. Thanks

I am one of the BRS pre-orders. When I ordered the CS guy said shipping in 1-2 weeks. I'm assuming this was because they thought theirs were in this latest boat load. In the BRS vendor forum they are updating delivery times based on when everything shipped out from Germany. Looks like that boat left in the first week of August, so travel time, customs time, ship to BRS, repack and ship to customers... End of August seems pretty reasonable.

I wish I knew if they were getting the probes etc at the same time and could pre-order those as well. It will be another wait for those, unless I just order the BRS probes and call it a day. Probably will.

According to vertex the controller uses standard probes, so if they don't get the vertex probes in you should be able to use any other standard probes. (Double check this)
