My 75g softie reef.

August '10

January '10

I lost my anemones in March, and let the tank go pretty bad, the August picture is after a major cleaning and restack.

Hey Lamball1, do you know what kind of critter you have in your avatar? Is it one in your tank? I think it's an anemone, but I don't know for sure. If it is, do you know what kind it is (common or scientific name)?

BTW, I just voted. I have a very mixed reef and I'm in the process of setting up an attached anemone tank.

I'm confused what that means.

I have a mixed reef, my guess is that is going to be the far ahead winner.

I have a mixed reef with primarily sps and lps. I have only one softy, a colt coral that I was given when I started.

A few of the small pieces I had before we moved.

blue tort

green slimer

Seafoam pally

fire n ice - I think

Here's my candy cane taking a bite

I also had a few other zoa's. The seafoam pally's really took off in my tank. Started from one or two heads and grew to the above pic in a short while.

I have a mixed reef as well. Would love to have more SPS down the line, once I get my calcium reactor set up.

Mixed reef, all the way. You get the motion of the LPS/Softies in the flow and the bright, vibrant colors of the SPS. I don't like all SPS reefs. They look to stagnant to me.

Of course, you need to plan you placement carefully to practice good husbandry.

Here's mine, although i have just recently made changes to add more frags and a nice red mouthed elegance coral.

Thanks guys. I truly believe it is the different textures and colors and shapes that make it so nice, hence the mixed reef getting my vote.

I have recently sold off my large SPS colonies as I had the opportunity to buy some really nice SPS frags at great prices. I added a nice big purple/green LTA for my clowns in the middle of the tank. I also realized how fast everything grows in my tank and, in a year, the tank is going to be amazing ad more colorful than the pic I posted.

No way Lamball This is the dream tank i have always wanted. i LOVE peninsula tanks. It has a different feel to it and it is more fun to aquascape.

It's a 125 custom Starphyre. 60X24X20 high. I have dumped a ton of cash into it, but I have reaped the rewards. I have had very few, if any problems, thanks to top quality gear and doing things right from the start.

But I didn't want to hijack your thread. I just wanted to illustrate how gorgeous a mixed reef can be. In person, it is just as nice, if not nicer. Next to the aquascaping (which i could not be happier with) I believe it's the mix of LPS and SPS and zoas in between everywhere that gives it it's beauty and a natural look. BTW, I LOVE zoas. I have a lot of them all over and a "zoa tree" on one end next to my "montipora island".

I normally wouldn't show the tank in this state, but this is what it looks like now, with the changes and all the frags. I don't personally like the look of frags, but I know everything grows like weeds in my tank and it will fill in in no time. You can see the large LTA and the red mouthed elegance I've added. I don't have a head on FTS right now, but you can see the colors that are going to grow in. It's going to be amazing!

Yes, it's 3 sides viewable. It's in the middle of a large room.
