Brown algie

The other day i was able to finally get my tank water changed out from tap water to water run through my rodi unit w 0tds. In last few days the brown algie is coming back in sand and on the glass. Im assuming this is normal since it had brown algie in it before w the tap water and will just take awhile to die out on its own? Am i right in this thinking?

Possibly....sound reasonable... Changes in water...even what one thinks would be better water....is still a change and changes cause a tank to adapt and adjust

Tap water is treated, and may have been suppressing the algae growth. Now that it’s been purified, this particular algae can grow unhindered? Just a guess, though.

Or it's just coincidence.Algaes come and go in tanks. Do some water tests: alkalinity, magnesium, phosphate---and consider doing some larger water changes to improve on the history of the water you have. 30% one week, 30% the next would help roll back some of the accumulated stuff from evaporation over time.

Salinity 1.024-6; alkalinity 8.3-9.3 on KH scale; calcium 420; magnesium 1300, temp 78-80, nitrate .2. Ammonia 0. No filters: lps tank. Alk and cal won't rise if mg is low.

Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny, royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%.
