Nice open aquascape. Should fill in soon as the corals grow!

Yea wanted a nice open scape my last tank had way to much rock in it and once the corals grew in there was minimal swim space for the fish.

I cut up most of my colonies to be all similar size frags didn't want to have small frags stuck in with larger colonies.

120g SPS -a-Palooza

So as I was mounting some new frags today and heard a thud in the tank thinking I had knocked over a rock I looked around and saw this.

I guess the Moorish idol thought today would be a good day to take a nip at a clam instead the clam closed on his beak. Had to take him and the clam out in a small bucket and prey the clam open to get the idol out. Both are back in the tank clam seams fine and is open again. The idol definitely messed his mouth up but doesn't seem to stressed. Hopefully he can learned his lesson and will stay away from my clams.

Just retribution, glad to see a clam win a picking fish battle for once. Hopefully the Moorish recovers

Hope he recovers soon
One buddy of mine had the same thing happen with a yellow tang and he was ok after a couple of days.

Looks like he ok picked at a few mysis but didn't touch the nori which he normally devours an entire sheet. Hasn't gone near any of the clams so hopefully learned his lesson.

Sorry for the terrible pics one of these days I will get a decent camera or learn how to take better pics with the phone. Not sure I would be any better with a real camera

Love your scape mate. You have some yummy colors happening so i'm looking forward to watching your collection and reef grow
I didn't know clams attacked fish, i'm glad you were around to save the poor guy. I'm a tad concerned about this revelation since i've seen the yellow tang picking at algae on the side of the clam.

Your tank will look awesome once all the coral fills in. Do you still have the tank running you got your frags from?

Thanks mate I just hope I can achieve half the success you have. My tangs are always picking at the shells of the clams and it never bothers them. I haven't seen any of the other angels picking at the clams I think the MI just stuck his nose a lil to far in there.

This tank is located where my old 65g was. I sold off a lot of the corals from that tank and kept mostly frags what's left over is in my 80g frag tank.

I really like the picture of the clowns hosting the nem. The clowns look huge compared to that nem though.

Thanx the nem shrinks way down at night before the clowns were hosting it it would recede all the way down into the rocks. The Rbta I have on the other island does the same.
