Fish experts need input. So as you know setting up the 120 gallon. I have had about 20lbs of what was moist live rock in my 35 QT for 2 weeks. Skimmer was pulling a lot but seems to have slowed. NO fish in there. I took 2 rocks about maybe 4-6lbs. total and put it in the 120 while it is filling. Also have been doing water changes on the 55 and every hour or so I put that water in the 120 with sucking out sand at the same time. Trying to get the 120 established fast. Question if that live rock is not 100% cured is that bad?? I will be moving all my rock, coral, sump and fish as soon as I get the water parameters the same.

I put it in no clue if it is done curing.. Called a buddy and he said that little should have no effect. Probably have about 50-60lbs of cured going in.

I would first finish cycling your rock, and any additional rock now. You can cycle it in the new tank or in a separate container like a Brute trash can. Once the rock is cycled, I would fill the new 90 half way with saltwater, aquascape the new tank with the rock, then add new dry sand (washed well to remove the fines/dust), top off the tank with saltwater and then transfer your livestock.

If the rock isn't cured it will go through an NH3 spike this can be done in the tank or a separate container as stated above. The fastest way to seed the rock is with rock that's already seeded. If you have rock that was in your old tank that you keep wet then that will help speed things up. It depends on the type of rock as far as if I would put it in the tank right away. Some rocks are known to have a ton of crap in them or lots of dead stuff. In any case your tank will go through an NH3 spike as well. The water from your old tank isn't going to do much for you other then save you from mixing some salt. I wouldn't add anything till the tank has gone through it's NH3 spike.

Everything is successfully transferred. What a project.. The tank is 120 gallon. The two tangs love it! talk about fast swimmers. Feel bad they were in that 55. Still very small so not that terrible. Only added those two pieces of live rock that is probably 80-90% cured. Now I have to finish the outside of the cabinet base and build the canopy.. Wish I could post some pictures but don't think I qualify yet?

Thanks! What are the screens made of? They don't say. I was going to use egg create. I am trying to reduce evaporation. That is why I was thinking glass on say 2/3. Tank has 3x 22" sections.

your water will heat up with a glass canopy. Go to lowes/home depot and buy window screen frame pieces and the netting from BRS. With egg crate: fish can go right threw the hole
