Is there something living on my snail?

Just noticed this today. One of my snails seems to have a tube on it and the tube looks like it has a string coming from it. Is this harmful?

Is the tube hard or soft? If it's the latter it might be macro algae of some sort. If it's the former it could be a Spionid worm or something similar.

When I poke at it with a baster it moves a bit, mostly stays straight and bends where it connects to the snail shell.
