How's it coming? 5-month old tank (pics) !

So, I've posted a few pictures after returning hom from business, but I finally learned to use my camera a bit more effectively and take better shots. (I struggle with white balance)

Anyway, this is a 72 gallon bowfront with a 30 gallon sump. 2 Koralia 1050gph, 1 inch sandbed, and it is five months old.

Nitrates aren't registering, and mag/calc look good.

With that kind of coralline growth in a 5 month old tank...you're doing it right. Keep it up.

Great job!

Thanks for all the kind words, I've put a LOT of time and money into this sucker.

Yup, that is a Sebae nem, it's super happy and the clowns mainly host in it.

The dang GBTA went behind a rock and I can barely see him anymore

Not sure about the bleaching with yours, but I had one that was a deep brown with lively purple tips a few years back. No matter what I did, and I mean I tried everything, pictures would always make it look bleached. Thing was suuuper happy and healthy too.

In the picture it looks really bleached, also sebae anemones are sand dwellers and in the picture its on a rock. With all of that taken into concideration and the fact that the bta is moving makes me thing something is off. Neither one of them are happy.

The Sebae is new, about four days actually it's been in the tank. It went straight to that spot and has stayed. A Sebae is supposed to be more yellow I know, so hopefully he will come around. That is what he looked like at the LFS.

And yea, let me see if I can find pics of setup.

Thanks for answering the question in regards to your sebae.. It is definately bleached. Not a good thing, and the fact that you have only had it for four days means it wasn't your fault, but the store you got it from should know better. Please let them know to stop selling white sebaes.

Now the good thing is that you can bring them back to health. I ended up getting a small bleached one at the end of June and it has steadily been gaining back it's color, which is turning out to be a greyish brown with the purple tips.

What you need to do is ensure it is getting lots of full light (all your tank lights on) for at least 5 hours a day and feed it every two to three days. Depending on the side of the anemone, I would suggest shrimp, squid, clams which are easily purchased at your local grocery store. Just chop them up in to finer pieces and directly feed the anemone. The pieces should be smaller than it's mouth.

In a couple of weeks you should see the the color begin to change. A few of the tentacles should darken in a couple of spots and it will slowly spread.

and keep us updated on the progress and don't be afraid to ask questions.
