Should have waited for the WAV pumps!

The above post are from 2013 so I figured this problem would have been behind them now. Here it is 9/2015, installed mine (after following directions), ran fine about 24 hours, then propeller stopped and started flashing red/green. Took wet side and cleaned an already clean pump and put back in place. Red/green. Spent all day saturday, thinking maybe a Apex WXM issue. NOT so here I am having to miss work for a pump I had to work almost all week to pay for in the first place! Now more $$$ & time being xxxxed away. Quess I'll see what there customer service is all about tomorrow, (monday). Should have waited a week longer for the WAV's. Would have have saved some $$ too. Customer service will dictate weather or not I'll ever try any Ecotech marine products in future. WOW!

Reefer,

Red/Green indicates a stall error meaning the dryside is unable to spin freely. This is typically caused by the wetside being jammed. If you've already disassembled and cleaned the wetside, I would recommend ensuring you're using the correct spacer based on your aquarium's glass thickness. That said, we look forward to talking to you.

Red/Green flashing light on my MP40wes. I check the wet side change out difference one. Dry side is spin loosely, till I took the driver apart and wriggle the wires and that all it took. Did it 5 minutes ago

Had the same problem with 2 of my MP10s (2 weeks apart). Switched motors, wet sides cleaned etc, nothing.

As they were from 2013 and 2014, no warranty, so I went ahead and ordered a replacement quite drive . This got one of pumps working...

Now in order to save money and time, here's what I did to bring the old drives back from the red/green land...

1. unplug the drive
2. take out the wet side and give it a good clean (optional and not essential)
3. disconnect the motor from the drive (unscrew, disconnect the white plug from inside)
4. connect the power cable to the motorless drive -> this will make the drive flash red/orange
5. unplug
6 reconnect the motor to the drive
7. reasemble the drive
8. plug it in -> you should have a nice working pump now !

I did this to both my old drives and got them working . Now I have an extra drive sitting around

Seems like a lot of quality issues. My one week old mp40 crapped out. Sent it in cost 40$ for shipping for a one week old 350$ pump

My Vortech Mp10 Just went out yesterday red/green light flashing
i got 2 units so what i did was to open both units and swapped heads to see if it was a head issue as many mentioned(cleaning etc) and i had the same issue si i thought it was the control it self so i tested the voltage and amps i was getting 24V but amp was not staying and 1.5 as power adapter indicate, 1.5 popped in but it turned off in no time so i figured it was the power supply/ AC adapter however you want to call it but if you need a replacement you'll find it under AC adapter anyways so i went ahead and swapped the adapter to the faulty unit and it turned right On! so i had pinpointed the problem to Ac Adapter (power supply) MP10 uses 24V output 1.5 amp 50/60HZ if you're in USA 50/60HZ its standard from your wall power outlet, so if you need 1 search using that info also on the original adapter under output:24v----1.5A there is a drawing indicating polarity when you buy a new unit make sure it was polarity the same (polarity power/ground or if you want to call it positive/negative ) on MP10 + is in the Middle - outside refer to picture, you can find them for like $10 when searching if you see the Amps higher than 1.5 for example 3.0 or anything over 1.5 that adapter its fine to use because drive its only pulling whatever amps it needs! anyways my fix was only .
.75 Cents! i opened my unit and noticed a capacitor blew how did i know? visibly you can see the top of it inflated while the other is flat, i replaced it and red/green lights are gone! unit working just fine for MP10 capacitor needed is 470uF 35V 105C temp i used an 82C and its working fine! you can find this Online very cheap! for MP40 removed capacitor and refer to info on capacitor it self it should have info needed written on it! good luck Guys
