Hey James - congrats on the nomination!

Excellent growth/coloration on those corals.

Thanks guysngals. I'm hoping with the tank crash, the cracked tank, and the siced finger.. I'll get the sympathy vote

Oh - and Timmy, I'm not sure what coral it is. It's got similar coloration to the garf bonsai - but a dissimliar growth pattern. Got it from the Dr in a frag pack.

TRC members scan the forums. Each month, a forum is selected, and a number of threads are discussed. The top three are given to the RC membership to vote upon. The biggest hurdle is getting people to vote. With almost 100,000 members now and at least 2,000 online at any given hour, you'd think it would be better received. Currently, we hope to get a mere 200 votes over a 5 day period. I'd really like to see votes of 1000 or more.

It does seem crazy to only get a few hundred votes. Have you guys tried to think of ways to intice people to vote?

Nice looking SPS tank man. You using a ca reactor or just dosing kalk to keep levels up?

Well, we've been posting additional threads to get people involved, and try to keep those funny and noteable.

What is ironic is people will chime in and debate all kinds of topics here. All we need is a single click.

Hmm. You just gave me a great idea!

Just kalk for now. A DIY calcium reactor is next on my list.

Incidently, I just tackled my heat issues (83+) by putting a 20" thermostat controlled fan suspended over the sump in the remote room. It seems to go on at about 80 degrees in the room - and blows pretty hard. Temp is now stable at 82...

I'll take a few pictures of it in a few days...

I have 5 - 6"X14" tall acrylic tubes. I figure a dual or even triple chamber will be the trick. I also have that T1 pump that you sold me way back that I'll be using for it...

Although if I don't win the thread of the month, I'm not sure I can go on in the hobby... I might just have to pour bleach in the sandtrade sand and call it quits...

Ok - so with all this spamming and pimping going on from my buddies

I fgure it's time for an update. Just some pictures of corals. Everything is fine, my foxface is settling in nicely and has been able to stave off the "purple psudochromis of death"... Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get a good picture of him - I'll work on that.

This first one was COMPLETELY bleached and literally 1/5th the size it is now. Colored up nicely, and is growing a lot...

Sorry the picture's a little out of focus..

Another coral that was looking hopeless...Neither of these have been posted before because they were just SO horrible...

This one had lost it's green - faded out to brown. Took it a couple of weeks with the new 20k 400W bulb to replace the OLD radium that had shifted to a pee yellow... It's quickly helped these colors come back in a few corals...

This stuff is in a REALLY aqward position - which is part of the reason why this coral (tenuis - tricolor) has basically turned to a light pink. The flow in that area is a little less than I'd like. Although with the new bulb - the tiny (not sure if you can see them) hints of blue on the tips are starting to show.

Also - couple zoanthid that Kip hooked me up with ...

And here's a Bali Slimer (Youngi) that basically is doing what it's supposed to do.. Greener on the base than the tips, growing fast. This is one of the few corals in the tank that I've actually fragged

And lastly a closeup of one of my favorite corals - been with me from the beginning. Has hardy grown - but gone through some VERY significant bleaching and receeding. It lived in my old tank before the crash and hosted a couple of ocellaris.

I love this guy...

Thanks for voting for me folks. I hope through this thread I helped you learn some stuff about plumbing, construction and stitching lacerations.

That's what it's about isn't it?

Ok - pulling out all the stops here:

Click here for a 12MB video of my tank BEFORE the crash (you'll need divx codecs to view)
