Is this a gorgonian?

These two things came on my live rock about a month ago. They're actually growing, and the polyps are extended a lot of the time. I like them and want to encourage them to get bigger.

Are they gorgonians? The polyps are rather small. Are they photosynthetic, do you think? Can someone tell me about them?

Just curious where you got the rock. Looks quite "live". Guessing Tampa Bay Saltwater aquacultured.

It is aquacultured in Tampa Bay, but I bought it from Live Rock and Reef. We had it in the tank within 12 hours of harvesting.

Since it's brown, do you think it's photosynthetic?

Wow....now that's live rock!
Very very nice stuff....

Up to your north, we have live rock too!
It's yellowish with no visable signs of any life for just $9.00 lbs. imagine.

Your rock really puts ours to shame...

It does look photo to me as well. Be wary of the "opposite" or contrast ones which are non. Nons need feed 3x day. PITA unless you specifically keep nons otherwise.

They grow well, like iodide in the .03-.06 range, I have one on each side of rock below
