kalk & 2-part, magnesium question

Hi Randy,

I am using your 2-part DIY Recipe 1 with the Magflake & Epson salts Magnesium component.
I understand when and how much of the Part 3 magnesium to add if I were only using the 2-part.
But, I am also using 1 gallon of 2tsp/gallon of kalk each day.

I am still adding the recommended amount of the part 3 magnesium for every gallon of the calcium and alk used. But, I need to add more magnesium to maintain my level around 1280.

In order to keep things in balance, what type of “extra” magnesium should I add?
Should I simply add more of the DIY part 3 or should I add Tech-M, etc?

Thanks,

That's a good question.

If you are using MAG flake in the magnesium part, then you can just use more of that. If it is all Epsom salts, then I'd use Tech M, or the DIY magnesium supplement described here:

Yes. I am using the 5 cups Mag Flake with 3 cups epson salts mixture.

So, I can use only that for all my magnesium additions and won't have to worry about throwing anything out of balance like sulfates?

Thanks again Randy. You're the best!

Yes, you can use that, or to be even better, make another mix like the one in the article above that is 10:1.
