snail explosion
I have a 120 gal LRFO tank that has these small snails that were given to me by LA. 15 or so are fine but thousands are not.
snail1.jpg So far I have been netting some out but can't keep up or clean my tank with out knocking them everywhere. Any ideas on what these are and how to get them gone. Keep in mind I started with 15 or so. spotch.jpg Thanks

They look like Cerith Snails. You could sell them or allow them to eat their way to smaller numbers as available food sources tap out.

My concern there is the ammonia created by decomposition.

Their numbers are regulated by the availability of food. If there are too many, net/scoop them out and offer them to local reefers.

Trade them in at your LFS for store credit.

Yup - those are good things and will scale to the food requirements. They do help so try to keep some but balance or review your feeding. Reefers love them so your LFS will trade. Enjoy.
