Fish Stand

I feel like this is a stupid question but I will probably regret not asking. How do I know that my stand will support the weight of a fully filled and stocked fish tank. The store provided me with a stand for a 75 gallon tank and it feels light and frail. My kids make me nervous being around a fully loaded tank with a weak stand

if it's a factory stand, it will hold the weight, it just won't last very long. Better to build a stronger one yourself.

Agree a store bought stand should be fine, but pics would give best idea.
75g is normally not a big deal

Is it one of those MDF stands? Or is it one of the iron stands?

The MDF stands look fragile, but they're actually really well built (as far as structure is concerned). When you build it, use wood glue everywhere a wooden dowel goes. I used titebond III when I glued mine together. After putting it together... stand on it and dance a little jig. If it collapses under your weight, then it wouldn't have supported the tank anyways.

The iron stands scare me.

I will say, I'm one of those that tends to over engineer. The design specs on the steel stand I have under my tank basically says I could park my truck on it without flexing... and the little wooden stand I'm building for my daughter's 10 gallon tank supported me sitting on it last night.
