I dont disagree. I have just seen some threads about it in the past. I Nlnever bought into it, but never had a sound basis for why. I thought it might be worth mentioning.

Ive seen where people have extremely elevated aluminum from running sintered glass media. There is definitely some background data on high aluminum levels in reef tanks. I dont recall anyone hypothesizing negative effects, but im not sure what levels they were dealing with. Would need to do some searching.

I won some of the other brand in a club raffle 3 months ago and put them in. Mostly for coppopod habitat as reccomended by alage barn.

I took them out last night

The sintered alumina media might be an issue, but not always. It's been more of an issue for some soft corals, if my memory is correct.

And it was also proven that cheap Chinese knockoffs from fleabay is what was causing the elevated aluminum, not actual marine pure.

Here is a guide.

Yeah, I use the blue bucket myself with ATI Essentials. The mybatch test has had my last 2 buckets at 7.9...I try to run at 8, so it works really well for me.

but the aluminum would hit the xenia, and zoas and sponges before the SPS were affected.

It wasn't supposed to be a mixed tank but it just sort of ended up that way. Gifts & Club Raffles and that sort of thing

Just strange, I had the same issue with my mixed reef. I was on vacation and neglected water changes. So to stop the progress I Fraged all the tops, did a water change and ran carbon and everything is doing fine now, starting in incrust the plugs. If you think about it I doubt metals built up in the tanks over that time, That only leaves one option.
