Cut a piece of egg crate instead of the glass. My daughters 30 gallon tank is usually around 81-82 during the day with no issues.

heres what you need for lid. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/...ting-kits.html that in my opinion is better than using eggcrate for 2 reasons. 1. Its see through so you get better light into tank and less light reflecting back on your light causing your lights to burn out faster
