Having rings are positive ID characteristic but not having ring does not rule it out. Of the host anemones only Aurora always have rings and Malu MAY have rings but not always.

So the anemone is on the move. It will not stay put in the sand. So I turned off my powerhead and decided to let it do its thing.

Malu, because this is what your anemone is, like lower current and lower light, more in the range of BTA, and mid light level SPS, rather than Gigantea or Magnifca. Try to put him in a place you think he like and go from there.

Looks like it found a spot. Less current, in the sand but somehow by a rock, right in front on the pistol shrimp fortress door lol. Poor guy is gonna have to dig another one

So I ended up getting 2 small Clarkii (about 1"). They took the anemone within the hour, already seeing some bickering over it lol. It moved to a side of the tank. It's attached, but the column is not totally buried in sand, part of it is attached to a rock and the glass.

I'm a little clueless about these dots. It's got every features of malu, minus the rings, which are not mandatory. Tentacles are no longer than 5 cm, shorter towards the middle, longer on the outside. The foot is delicate, very slippery. And that thing is dead set on doing a road trip in my tank. It will not settle. Few days in a spot, than moves again. This morning the foot was out of the sand. Tried a plastic container to put it in, didn't work. So i dug a hole in the middle of the tank, put it there, with sand around its foot, and put some rocks around it. And finally ordered the clownfish to make sure it stays there!!! No clue if it'll work this thing moves more than my kids lol

Little update. The anemone has been in this tank for a month and appears to be doing good (knock on wood lol). I added 2 small Clarkiis but one killed the other one...so I'll stick to one clownfish and add some cool shrimp/fun to watch mobile inverts!
