The New and Improved Extreme Corals
To the Reef Central community,
First I just wanted to say thanks to all of our loyal customers and supporters out there. We're going on our 5th year, and that wouldn't be possible without all of you. So thank you all from the bottom of my heart. After shipping 1,000s and 1,000s of orders, I sure have learned a thing or two ... And probably the most important thing I've learned is that I'm not really a "good" businessman. I'm just an ordinary guy who loves the hobby. I'm the first to admit we've had some customer service problems in the past. And I want to tell you what I've done to make sure it never happens again. I've dealt with all the normal small business "problems" - power outages at the worst possible times, unreliable employees, a bad economy, break ins and theft from our retail store, etc.... ... but the bottom line is that we simply grew too fast and I didn't know how to properly run the business. I'm a little stubborn and thought I could handle it, but as it turns out I was wrong. So here's what I've done to fix the problem. I've brought on a new partner - an experienced "business guy" - who now controls the business. We have people to properly handle customer service, he is going to handle all the day to day "stuff" running the business, and I'm just going to do what I do best - source and bring you the most extreme corals I can find at fair prices. We've completely revamped the business, and have closed our retail store in order to focus strictly on Internet sales (at least for the foreseeable future). ... so we figured what better time to come back and once again become a sponsor of Reef Central. We're excited to be back, and look forward to serving you in 2010 and beyond. Our good stuff usually goes pretty quick, so if you want "early bird alerts" when we post killer new corals I suggest you subscribe to our mailing list at our site. You'll get a coupon good for $25 off your first order just for subscribing. Finally, if you're one of the unfortunate few who have had a problem with us in the past, I would love the chance to regain your trust and earn back your business. Give us another try - I promise you an extremely great experience. Glad to hear you got the email.
We get them fairly often. Best thing to do is send us an email or give a call to put in an "official" request. I don't think we're going to be handling customer service, special requests, etc. here via the forum as it's just not that efficient for us. We can serve you much better if you can send an email or give us a call. Thanks! |

I was looking for a hard to find coral and this company had it in stock but not posted on the web site. I was so excited I did not question the high price. A week later I saw the same coral posted but the price was $200 less than I paid.
I placed this order over the phone. The $25 discount for first time buyers was not applied. I was told my account would be credited. I did not receive the credit or response to my follow up as to why it was not applied. I will not order from this company again. |

First of all the item on the website is not even remotely the same size, the price between them would be considerably different. I sold you a piece that had at least twice the amount of heads. The email that I received from you in follow up to your purchase was a offer to pay less than half of what I posted two additional corals for on my website. I declined this offer and then you were upset with this. As far as your $25 gift certificate not being applied to the order, I will research this and if this has not been done I will correct this within 24hrs. Thank you
EDIT-$25 gift certificate has been refunded to your paypal account now-Sorry for the problem Last edited by Extreme Corals; 12/21/2010 at 11:48 AM. |

I offered to purchase one additional coral at a substanially discounted price. When I learned how much time and effort it will take to restore an animal that had not been fed during the entire time it was in your possession I wanted to save another one. You declined and that was the end.
You told me your were too lazy to feed them. I hope you told the customer who purchased one of two remaining corals that it had been neglected and would need special care. Thanks for the refund. Let's not sling any more mud. If you wish to discuss further, send me a private email. |

I am sorry if you misunderstood me, I said I did not photo them and put them on the website because they would have to be left in my photo tank and fed for days before I could photo them. This is to time consuming for me, I can photo 50 or 60 corals a day, these corals would just take up space on my photo tanks. All of our corals are fed and taken care of. I have over $50,000 dollars worth of corals in my facility ever day, obviously we need to house them and take care of them in order not to lose them. I personally do not feed them, we have a dedicated husbandry person who has been with me for 7 years. Thank you for your concern for our corals welfare and care but they are well taken care of. Thanks

So I really don't want to hurt anyones reputation around here, but just noticed EC's discussion on RC and have to share. My husband and I used to love extremecorals.com cause they really did care about their customers and had some killer stuff. We received a Palythoa colony with lots of zoa spiders and the colony looked terrible. We were told that we would get a refund in an email from Scott the owner. After months of not recieving any calls or emails as was promised, I ended up sending 2 more emails and never received a response back. Now its been nearly 2 years and multiple calls and emails later we still have received NO REFUND so we stopped buying from them because of this experience, not to mention everything on the site is supposibly "Ultra", "Hard to Find" and so on. Definitely a bad experience with these folks. I normally would not post anything until after I had tried to resolve it with the company, but I have done that and haven't gotten anywhere.
After 2 years I am not expecting anything, I just want to make sure that the New and Improved Extreme Corals, really has improved. Is Scott still at the company? |

I am puzzled here. It seems that the mods saw fit to delete several negative posts that I had made about TFP because it was not the purpose of the forum. I wonder why they allow negative posts concerning EC to stay up?

Recently I have purchased over $2K worth of corals from Extreme. I have to say I am very happy with the service I am getting from Scott and he has stood behind his quality even to the point of telling me that if I don't like something he'll refund my money. I don't think customer service gets better than that.
If your looking for nice size colonies this is the place to go. - mike
