Petco sale 30 off 100 w free shipping. had them match the Amazon price of 90 and picked up the stand for 80. something like 150 after tax. might be a couple hours left on that sale. gl

I'm looking for a light now.

yep. on the phone, in live chat and at the store.

they will also match chewy so i always get great in store deals there on food, chemicals and sometimes equipment. ive started to notice that they are carrying less and less of the stuff chewy carries but theres items they just cant get away from.

also they have a promotion, every 100 you spend you get 5 in store credit but you have to go online and register for it and then its a use it or lose it type deal. i lost like 50 bucks cause i didnt understand how it worked.

ive been to like 8 petcos in my life and they all sucked for fish, but i am lucky one guy not too far from here really knows what hes doing and has great fish - tanks are not connected etc etc. corals not so much

i have the light. i believe it does have the advertised par. its super bright and i can feel heat on my hand when i put it under the light. i dont have a meter though.

i dont think you can get anything like this for the price. it does lack wifi control but you can get 3 of these for less than the cost of 1 hydra 26hd so this is probably how im gonna set up my 150g tank. i dont know if i'll use the 100 or 50 watt on the nano and my refugium yet. my fluval flex is scheduled to get here on thursday.

OK so these are just on highest settings, 1st 3 are mixed, next is blue and finally white

this is my 75 gallon and it is mounted as high as it can go

so as i mentioned, there are 3 channels, white and blue. and last one is you can mix the two

white and blue have 6 levels of intensity so you can customize a bit.

unit overall is very sleek, heavy well made. my son is holding it up on all the pictures because i have serious flow on my 75 through the sump which raises the water level above the trim. next series of photos will be on my 60 gallon sump which is only half full, you'll see that it sits right where the trim ends.

buttons to control the light are heat sensitive i guess, you just put your finger on the button and it changes the setting.

to turn off the light, you hold your finger on the M button for a few seconds. if you unplug the light or run it on a timer, it will turn on exactly where you left it when you plug it back in

there is no instant night mode, i mean you can just do blue lights at their lowest but you'd have to manually change it everyday

that last post is over my chaeto, which btw i dont think this light has good spectrum for chaeto. i normally use a 38 par "daylight" floodlight from home depot

so you see here that the hardware extends into the tank just where the trim is, so if your water is too high there could be an issue.

my fix in this situation would be to wrap any hardware that can potentially be submerged in plastic like those thick bags you buy fish in.

also this light is probably way too big for the fluval flex, likely i will buy the smaller 50 watt, and 2 more of these for my 150 gallon for 3 total.

however the fluval flex will be here tomorrow and i will mount this one on it to just verify.

i planned on using the fluval flex for my clownfish and as a frag tank, but one of my new yellow tangs isnt doing well with the other fish so he will be in there by himself until i find a better solution.

well the refugium is bare bottom so the disco light is there on the lowest setting. the water is 18" deep and the light is sitting 8" above the top of the water.

the fluval flex is scheduled to arrive today so I can remove the light and test it in my 75g for the disco on substrate because im going bare bottom in the fluval.

yeah it got here. I have my clowns in there now. it's definitely a beautiful tank for the price. you can see I have a wavemaker mj900 (it's off) and a homemade skimmer. both are coming out, I just didn't want to stress the fish more coming out of my 75. the first chamber on the left is empty. I'm probably going to either close off the bottom or just get filter floss behind the two main openings. the center chamber I have filled with a bag of seachem matrix, really the whole chamber is filled with that. later I'll remove some and have carbon, gfo and purigen all in seperate bags. finally I'm changing out the stock pump, it's pretty weak so I'm getting the jebao dcp2500. DC controllable pump. I have my heater in the return changer as well. not the best place for it maybe. I know in my sump I lose all the water in my return changer for evaporation. you can see I threw in some egg crate for frags but idk, I might buy an acrylic rack I saw on Marine Depot, like 50 frags or just get some PVC legs . and definitely buying a few magnetic frag holders though.
I haven't put in the new light yet. I'm convinced 100 watts is going to be too much and I'm also a bit upset that putting in a new light means losing the great cover. I have 3 open tanks and way too much condensation around my windows and in my closets. I'm going to think about adding led strips to the existing cover however they have to be waterproof otherwise I'm stuck with another open tank.

yeah so I finally got around to installing the 100w Nicrew HyperReef and I think it's definitely too much. I'm going to hang on to it and buy 2 more for my 150g but I think it's a bit much for the nano. you tell me.
