Can or should I make water changes between those 7 or 10 Algaefix doses that may require?

The active ingredient in AlgaeFix breaks down quickly, within 24 hrs. So I would not do a water change for 24 hrs after you add it. You should be dosing it every three days.

The best time to do a water change would be just before you dose it.

Been having issues with gha for almost 2 years. This stuff did wonders on it! I can't believe how effective it was. Thanks for making this thread, algaefix marine is the real deal.

Hi EvMiBo,

I know that some people only use 50% or 75% of the dose, how much do you use?

Also do you have SPS in your tank as I am wondering whether it will affects SPS?

It does work, but be watchful of your tank if you have soft corals. I'm pretty sure it killed my pulsing Xenia, but not the Pom-Pom Xenia right beside it. It also seems like some Zoa's get irritated and close up after dosing too.

I've never seen any adverse effects on SPS or LPS since I've dosed it though.

Ok, I'm about to start AlgaeFix on my tank which is overrun by turf algae (the one that is relatively short, fluffy and grabs rocks really really well). This is what it looks like under microscope. The little things, I assume, are the cells of the algae.

If this works it will save me from having to restart the tank. I'll give it 3 weeks to make a difference, if it doesn't I'm taking all the rocks out and in the pot.

At this point, my nems are dead (Irene 3 day power outage) and my softies are a near complete loss from being choked by hair algae. Do you think this product will be worth it for me?

AlgaeFix will not work on Bryopsis, if that is what you have.

Raising your mag level by 300-400 ppm using Tech M has provided good control of Bryopsis for quite a few hobbyists.

Sorry i forgot the title of the video. I'm pretty sure it's GHA at this point. Not only visually after having a lot of people look, but also because my Mg has been over 1800 for 4 months.

At the point using AF can't hurt to try.

I would clean as much algae out of your tank before each dose to prevent the algae from breaking down and releasing nutrients back into your water.

Usually if AF is going to work, you will see the algae starting to die off by the 6-7th dose. Follow the directions on the label.

You should implement the other control measures such as reducing phosphates and nitrates and keeping the tank cleaned out including the glass and sand bed.

I keep buying Nassarius snails and they keep dying off, presumably from not enough food in my sand bed. I only have one huge tonga nassarius that just won't die left, I think. I'm assuming when you say sand bed you mean CUC, not vacuuming??

I'm going to cut back my feeding to 3 mysis cubes a week and I've got a phosphate sponge running. I've had my fuge blacked out for a couple days trying to kill the GHA in there but I'm wondering if that's really a good idea and if my chaeto will go with it...

What are your nitrate and phosphate levels at?

Do you have a deep sand bed?

Nope a very shallow bed of fine white (not quite sugar) sand.

My nitrates are undetectable. I'm between phosphate tests at the moment.

For a shallow sand bed, it is best to siphon it IMHO on a regular basis to prevent the excess food and excrement, which can get trapped in it, from breaking down.

To control algae, it is recommended to limit phosphate as much as possible. Usually you want a undetectable reading for phosphate. Running GFO with algae problems will help IMO.

You need flow going through the GFO more than a drip. Usually hobbyists put the filter bag with GFO in a sump or in front of a power head pump.
