Also what percent of the wilds that you get, make it through to grow in your tank?

My experience with most maricultures they have just never seem to adapt to my system. Most I have gotten don't make it threw being dipped and RTN the first night. The rest seem to just never get established and slowly lose PE and color till they wither away. I'm not saying you can't have success with maricultures many of these crazy colored/named pieces from the big vendors were once maricultured colonies.

I'd say about 2/3 of the wild collected stuff makes it into the display. Have a few brown duds that refuse to color up.

Good quality water, stable parameters, strong light and a dash of luck.

Yes it's true most of the named pieces that are new are from cultured acros. Where were you getting the maricultures from if I may? LFS, online vendor, other? I have been getting a lot of them and a very high number of them are keeping colors and some gaining better colors. I am very pleased with what the farmers are culturing out there. I have had maybe 1 out of 40 die after they go into my tank. Of course there were a few doa's from the long journey here but that's to be expected. Although there is not really a middle man for me, this could be why they are doing better than when I used to buy them. A lot of the LFS and online places I bought from did not have the proper tanks or practices to keep them in, they would stress out very easily and I had the same experience as you before.

Yea I was getting them from a few different LFS and from a larger vendor in the northeast.
If you wouldn't mind sharing your source can pm me the info

Well the 2 part I have been dosing has getting a bit out of hand so finally set up a Ca reactor that I got in a trade with a local member tanks matt

It's a GEO 618 that I modified with a larger DC circulation pump to hopefully increase its capacity. Being feed from a small pump now but will eventually be feed off the manifold. The effluent is going directly into my cheato Fuge to scrub off any excess Co2 and promoted better cheato growth at least that's my theory.I am slowly bringing it online and decreasing the 2-part hoping to keep everything stable fingers crossed.

Just caught up, these latest pics are awesome.

Can you share your latest test results? I'm most interested in PO4, NO3, and KH.

My luck with maricultured is healthy, good PE, and brown brown brown. It starts to color up when everything else starts to go pale and if I raise Nitrates to 2 - 5 it browns back up again.

How often do you dose iron?
Or is it in an auto doser?
Just curious because the only time I get an actual reading for iron is a couple hours after dosing a bulk amount. Otherwise, it's always been 0
Forget, do you have an algea scrubber of some sort?

Dosing 25ml of Red Sea colors ABCD. Part C is iron. Looking for a better iron additive once I run out of the Red Sea stuff. When ever I test its always around 0-.05

Have a 65g Fuge with various macros and a big ball of cheato in a separate sump.

Finally finished with rescaping the left side of the display removed a few colonies cut down some others and stuck in a bunch of branch rock. Still have to mount some frags but this is where I'm at for now.

Left side

Side shot

FTS

I'll try and get some top downs when I mount rest of the frags. Think I stressed the acros enough for 1 day.

Solid tank. Sometimes that's the fun part. Slight but dramatic changes and reefscaping. Little bit of shock to acros builds character I say.

Colors look fantastic. Have I bugged you about PAR readings ... I'll go look back in the thread.

Par#'s
Just below the surface 475-500
At the sand bed 90-150
All the Acros are getting 200-300

Overall very even par which is expected with t5 but thought par would have been a bit higher on the Acros. On the other hand my rock work is a bit low most the corals are mounted 12" or more from the surface

Also took readings on the frag tank. Have 2 of the 165w black box LEDs
Lights are hung 10" off the water. Blue channel at 100" white/red/green channel at 30% par ranges from 50-200.
You already posted, so quoting it here. I am thinking I need to lower PAR a bit to stay sane. My acros are getting 300 - 500 and will pale if I don't feed regularly.

Thanks for answering your own question mark
The acros in my system have the best coloration in the 250-300 par range. In one of the frag tanks I'm pushing 350-400 and colors system to fade out a bit but better growth.

Makes two of us that toasted an ice fire echinata this week I haven't had the best long term luck with this particular piece. Part of me thinks they like the shade

Finally started dosing iron with auto doser 4 doses over 24hr @ 3ml/dose. Fuge and cheato already responding nicely.
