cadlights is a sponsor at so cali reef. post over there and see what kind of response you get. Also, I think cadlights will have a booth a rap tomorrow and sunday. Eddie is usually there.

WOW is right! There has to be some responsibility. Mistakes are made and it's what a company does about them that can make or break them. It just bad business practice to not even discuss the situation or come to some kind of terms...
Sorry for your situation!!! |

Picket the cadlight booth at reefapalooza with a blown up copy of the first image you posted. In all seriousness though, this thread is straight terrifying. I would begin the litigation process at this point.

I guess tomorrow at RAP, everyone can talk to Cadlights booth and ask what happens if their front panel falls off

OP..so sorry you had to go through all that. I showed my wife the pictures you posted and her exact words were "if something like that happens to you then the only fish you'll see are the ones on the dinner plate". You have an extremely understanding wife. Terrible what Cadlights is doing. I agree with what other members said about pursuing legal action if you can't come to an agreement. Props to you for being so patient. |

I agree, Cadlights has 10 of thousands of tanks out there but they should at least acknowledge their warranty.
To the OP, I'm sorry for all that you've lost.

It hurts me to see those pictures. The front panel looks like it came off cleanly at the seams. Gives me the impression that the silicone didn't hold, is this correct?
I personally would get a lawyer and file suit. If its been 18 months and they haven't done anything about it, doubt they will now. I hope this ends well in your favor. |

OMG!!! thats horrible! glad no one was hurt! my kids are always around my tank!
that is definitely a manufactures defect. the whole front panel separated and fell. If it was cracked or something they can claim something hit it and that its your fault, but the entire panel separating like that is crazy and should be covered and can be a huge liability.

Some of the adhesives go off in less than 8 minutes .... Somebody gets complacent, dillies or dallies before setting big panels and bad things can happen.. Not saying it happened here. We need the shop floor CCTV feed on day tank was built. Wonder how QC works at tank building companies? Would be curious to see engineering spec on this particular tank ..... So many questions....

I'm sorry for your loss OP. First, I would rename the title of this thread, so that if anyone is going through Google for a search, your disaster is sure to pop up. I will tell you this, when I am on the market again, I will shop anywhere but Cadlights, which I had actually looked in to prior. I understand that going through a tragedy like this must be overwhelming, but a GREAT company, not a good one, but a GREAT company would have shown concern, compassion, and some form of recompense.
Others say that a replacement should have been in order, but after going through something like that, I doubt I'd be willing to set it up after the major loss. I will spread the word as much as I can for you bud. |

Wow!! That is horrible and every hobbyist nightmare.
Being a former LFS employee, this company has had a bad rep for us. At one point we had over 50% if not more defected tanks that were returned. We stopped carrying their products and I've always steered everyone away from the their tanks. Seeing this confirms it all. I'm sorry you had to experience this, and wish you luck through it all. |

Wow I'd be lighting up the forums and getting a lawyer ASAP!
Given the time frame the company has had to at least try to work with you let's all agree they are all horrible human beings and don't deserve anyone's business if this is how they stand behind their products... If it were me I'd consider flying out and facing the @ssholes face to face and see what they have to say then (I'd need someone to go with me so I didn't end up in jail for assault though).
