Plumbing RD 50?

Do you recommend a section of silicone hose with hose barbs into return (in sump) or hard pipe?

Personally I like the silicone hose solution, as it allows for a certain amount of flexibility and reduces any kind of vibration transfer, that said the pump is near in-audible and has negligible vibration and rubber feet. The most of amount of vibration will come from the plumbing, cavitation etc.

I hard plumbed my 80 watt and got vibrations through my bulkhead. I put a short piece of hose in and it’s silent.

No need for a mat under these bad boys

Cheers Tim

+1. The pump has rubber feet so no mat is needed unless you want to raise it up. Silicone hose is nice as Marco noted because it allows for some flexibility and on the smaller pumps, it never hurts. I hard plumb all larger pumps but smaller ones, I am inclined to use silicone tubing though I've never found it necessary.
