Things You May Find Useful In This Hobby...

This is a post out of my 600gal build thread in the large tank section. Figured it could be of use here as often people new to the hobby aren't sure what to buy or what to have on hand for testing, dosing, or medication. When you need something now, the fish store will usually be closed, so it is best to be prepared. I put some notes in italics in this post for you guys specifically, most of my meds are NOT reef safe and need to be used in QT. Hope this is helpful... happy reefing
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things are starting to fall back in place and something I need to focus more on as I do some of the final touches to everything is usability and organization. My goal tonight was to clean up the two shelves above the shop sink.

Top shelf is for testing and medication. Bottom shelf is for media, fragging supplies, dosing stuff, and misc things I'll be using daily.

Both

Top Shelf

The top shelf contains...
Salifert dKH, Ca, Mg, Ph, NO2, and NO3 test kits. (Let your LFS test PH and NO2, don't waste money on them)
API Ammonia test kit. (I also use seachem's ammonnia alert badge)
Seachem Copper test kit. (This is for Cupramine)
Hanna 736ulr Phosphorus Checker /w (3) 25packs of reagents. (Only PO4 test kit worth a dang.)
Hanna 761ulr Total Chlorine Checker /w (2) 25packs of reagents. (Great for testing RODI carbon blocks)
Spectrapure CO2 test Kit. (for RODI, probably won't ever need this.)
Jungle Buddies Ammonia test strips. (Great for people with chloramines)
2x Refractometers w/ Calibration Solution. (always calibrate, never assume!!)
Spare Floaty Thermometer.
Spare PH Probe w/ Calibration Reference Solutions.
Digital mg Scale. (for accurate measurement of medications)
Various extra syringes, measuring devices, and a pipette.

Formalin (If you run across Brooklynella, you need this, if you don't have it, it's too late.)
PraziPro (Great for Flukes and Deworming fish)
Powdered Praziquantel (Same as above but in pure harder to use form.)
Chloroquine Phosphate (Great for Crypto(Ich) and Marine Velvet. Hard to get in a hurry, long shelf life.)
Methyelne Blue (Good for suspected nitrite poisoning, increasing O2 in water)
Malachite green (anti fungal/bacterial med, not very commonly used)
Fluconazole (good for bryopsis algae)
Ciprofloxacin (good for treating sick anemones)
Maracyn Two (antibacterial and fin rot)
KanaPlex (good for dropsy, popeye, fin/tail rot, septicemia)
MetroPlex (Good for internal worms in fish)
Focus (binder for above two for feeding.)
Cupramine (Copper med for crypto and marine velvet)
Prime (Reduces toxicity of ammonia and nitrite, NEVER USE WITH COPPER)

The bottom shelf contains...
Kalwasser
Phosguard
GFO
Lanthinum Chloride
Baking Soda
Vinegar
Potassium Nitrate
Ammonia
Some flake food
and a spare MP40wes wet side.

I'll be adding more stuff as I need it. A lot of my additives are in bulk 5gal buckets such as mag chloride, mag sulfate, calcium chloride, carbon, ARM CaRx Media, and boxes of salt. This stuff is mostly kept across the hall in the mechanical room.
