Can't find fish

I went away on vacation and I had someone come to take care of my tank while I gone. I've been back for a week now and can't find my goby. He has not come out to eat and when I asked the person I had caring for it if he had seen him, he said he "never noticed". I tested my water and all the results are normal. I assume my goby is under the live rock, (dead or alive) but I'm not sure what I should do. I want to know if he's alive but I don't know if I should be moving my rock and disturbing it. Will moving the rock cause other issues? I would appreciate and advice. Thanks

Don't move your rock or go digging around for your goby. If it's still alive, it will eventually come out when you feed. Otherwise, wait a couple of months and get yourself a new one. I say wait a couple of months because I had a yellow watchman goby "disappear" for almost three months before miraculously "reappearing" like nothing had happened.

That was in a 65 gallon tank, so less likely in your 30, but they can still hide for weeks without being seen.

Good luck,
Kevin

Thank you ! I'll take your advice and leave everything alone. Hopefully he's just hiding. I'll give it time...worst case scenario I'll have a new goby in the fall
