That new Tao you linked to and the Nova A6 are almost the same unit, except the Nova one is dimmable. The Nova A6 would be $293 shipped I think I was quoted.

Two of these or the older models would both work great. Its up to you to decide if you want the extra improvements of the newer models for a higher price.
i went to the link and it states free shipping to the U.S. is that not true?? why did you have to pay for shipping? thanks.

That link is for the A4 unit, which is smaller and has less leds. $230 shipped free.

The A6 is a bigger unit. $293 shipped free.

Very nice. I agree, the dimmer option is a very nice one to have. I'm even going to try wiring in my own controller for sunrise/sunset.

2 of the 141 watt units would be fine, the other would be overkill IMHO.

Ian, your last photo appears extremely blue. Is that from the camera, or how it really looks? I am still trying to decide between 1:1 ratio and a 30:25 ratio. Thanks! Looks great!

What kind of blues are they? I wonder if you could do a 25 white 25 blue and then 5 royal blue for the extra pop in the corals .... Don't know if that would make much of a diff ... Also if they would let you customize it that much... What brand leds are in your units?

That last pic did look very blue to me also but I thought it was just the pics

The NOVA style ones also have heatsinks, which is one of the reasons why I went with one. I believe the fans are 120mm now as well, but I'd have to check. I think I even got some "UV" True Violet actinic leds installed for my unit, which would be awesome because I wanted to add them in on my own anyway.

Yeah my tank is a little blue... 2:1 would be way to blue... Unless its half royal blue and half blue with neutral whites...

So I went a little heavy not to much so I can dial the blue back a bit if I need to..

Sam has been great, and arranged the customized A4 for me. He also let me know that I was the first in the US to order this model, so I'm excited to try it out.

Seriously... This guy wants to build the lamps we want...
He knows ther is a market and he is tring to tap a knowledge base to figure out what to build.

He was on this site but they booted him... On one hand he really was only tring to get info for future products... But he does have commercial interest and this ain't really the place or that...
Regardless let Sam know what you want. He will make it happen...
