Are ASM skimmers ozone safe?

I just installed an ozone dosing system on my tank, and I'm injecting it into the venturi of an ASM skimmer. I didn't consider material compatibility when I did this, but now I'm concerned. Should I be?

Yes you should be concerned. I am not sure but I don't think they are.

You should be running ozone in a reactor not a skimmer. It is much more effective and easier to filter the water through carbon. Bulkheads and anything else that is plastic will degrade with ozone. Even ozone "safe" stuff runs into problems.

I hope others chime in on this. I have been thinking of using an ASM mini as an "extra" skimmer to dose ozone because I don't want to deal with the back pressure problem, nor the backing up problem that can occur after a power outage or a simple clog.

If it helps any, I have used my G3 with ozone since 2005, however I do not try and put a large doze of ozone into my tank, and have found it isn't really needed. I started my old 125 with a 25mg doze from a Sanders unit and it kept my orp at 400 very easily. I would suspect if you were trying to use a much larger ozone generator you could have issues with the plastics in your tank. My G3 has shown no breakdown of plastics with the small dose it has been given.
