Which water pump is better?
I am wondering which water pump is better, the Little Giant brand or the Gen-X brand. I am looking for a pump for my 180g. Anyone have any experience with either of these, how loud are they? Any mechanical issues?
Thanks! |

I ahve no experience with GenX but did have a Little Giant and would never have another one for an aquarium anyway. Great utility pumps but lousy indoor aquarium pumps.

Gen-x pumps are loud too. Great but loud. If you want a great pump and is quiet i recommend an iwaki with the japanese motor. I have heard good things about a dolphin pump too but have no personal experience. I have had a little giant, gen-x and iwaki.

My Genx Mak4 is very loud (in the basement and I can still hear it), but I dont think they are really supposed to be that way. They are however, fairly efficient, at 110 watts.
