AI Hydra for Clams?

2 AI Hydra26HD over a 45g tall. Is that enough light for clams? I would love to try a clam. Anyone doing this successfully can share your settings?

Filter feeders. Feed them from time to time, give them ca/all/mag you should be ok.

What do you recommend for feeding?

What kind of clam are we talking about here?

To answer your original question, that should be enough light depending on what you have it set at, what kind of clam it is, and where the clam will live (some like the rocks and some like the sandbed). I would recommend poking around in the clam subforum http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=41 and doing some research on the specific species and their requirements.

I would not recommend target feeding phyto to a clam as some have reported clogging the clams gills with overzealous feeding. Broadcast feeding live phyto will certainly not hurt and can help support a strong microfaune population in addition to supplementing whatever the clam normally gets from your water.

I have a blue maxima in a 28 gallon cube about 4 or 5 inches off the bottom under a single Ai prime HD ramping to 90 % for about 11 hours a day set to 8k. The clam has been in the tank 4 months and has doubled in size. I don't feed and it has new growth all the way around and starting another set or ridges on its shell. I think the hydra is bigger? So should be fine I would think
