I love my Gen 3 after adding a gen 4 I will be changing the other units over as I love the look of the gen4 and my corals seem to be loving the extra led colours

Can't wait to get mine up and running! I love the contrast that the Radion gives. Really makes everything pop.

I have a 6 foot 210 gallon tank with two cross braces on top. It was suggested I get 6 G4 XR15 Pro's instead of 3 G4 XR30w Pros so I could space them out better to prevent shadowing.
Anyone have thoughts on this suggestion?

It's an excellent suggestion, as long as running all of the cords is not problem. You get a lot more freedom with the XR15s for spacing without sacrificing anything and for essentially the same cost.

Still loving my G4 on a lagoon 50. Been running the Coral Labs AB+ exclusively @ 60% with great results. I’m going tomorrow to my lfs to grab another G4 pro since my sps are now growing edge to edge in the tank and I want to make sure everything is getting light evenly and no shadows. The tank is just so much brighter than any other led I have used. Frags color up quickly. The only thing I could say is having the fans run 24/7 creates a lot of dust buildup on the fan.

I had two on a 4' tank and found it was dim. I added 4 T5 bulbs using the Aquaticlife fixture, and wow what a difference.
With the two though, after awhile of acclimating I'm starting to get growth even on low %.

Good to hear Mike! Part of the reason I’m buying another G4 is that every successful sps dominant tank I see has double the recommended lighting. Now that my colonies are healthy and filling in, I don’t want any shadowing being a issue.

Yeah shadowing is pretty obvious with LED. SPS can create shadows on their own. I have a small 1" frag that's on an angle. The entire plug is encrusted except the very small area that it's own shadow is casting!
Consider adding T5's. It is now the gold standard for colouring and growing SPS. Most collectors I know use them solely.

I would, but the wife didn’t like the look of t5 in the dining room. The G4 is sleek and minimal.

Actually the Aquaticlife hybrid fixture with the G4 is more sleek than individual modules

I seen that fixture and it is nice. Still, my tank is 30” wide and I think the second G4 will fit the bill nicely.

My CadLight 70 is 35.5" x 23.5" and I'm considering putting a 3rd XR15 just to eliminate as much shadowing as possible. Currently the 2 puts out enough light but if you run a 3rd with all of them at a lower percentage, I think it can only be better at least for my sized tank.

Xr15’s yes, three would work great for your tank pecan! I plan on having two xr30 g4 pro on a 30 inch tank for sps dominant. After seeing how much light 1 G4 throws out on my tank, I’m very confident two G4’s will grow anything from corner to corner.

Finally my PAR meter arrived today....Apogee MQ510, so had to check my levels. Running four Radion G4 Pro on a 7' tank and have to say coverage is pretty good - a fifth would give solid even coverage.

My lights are at 12" above the water and running AB+, at 70% PAR was in the sweet spot of 280-400 across most of the tank.

Sweet Rodney! I installed the second xr30 G4 yesterday. Everything is lit from corner to corner. I’m runnng @ 60% ab+ and just lowered to 40% for a couple weeks so I don’t shock my coral from adding the second Radion. The ab+ is such an awesome preset. My coral react so well with it.

Wow, Rod! You joint Radions as well..nice... How would you compare them to Mitras? I have 7' tank as well but deep, 72x36x24 and in my calculation i would need 6 XR40 and 2 Xr15 for good SPS coverage...

mike

PS, I am still with T5s in my DR tank and trying Radions on my frag tank with AB+

Yep Mike, Radions now almost a year with the G4 Pro's. Of all the LEds these are my favourites, the brightness is fantastic on the G4 Pros, spread is better on these than my old Mitras and the color is amazing. Ive not used the new Mitras so cant really comment, I did see them some time ago and looked ok but I just prefer the light output of the Radion.

Ive only had corals back in my tank a few months now (dont ask too many issues to list) but here are some pics

So who out there has set their own colours? It seems the AB plus is the most common setting ppl are using but I am not happy with the colour. What setting is closer to a 20K look, is there one?
