Xenia

I can't seem to grow Pulsing Xenia. This is my third one. They seem to flourish for few weeks then shrink to a tiny slump. All parameters are normal.

Tank - 80 gal shallow
Light - 11 am to 9 pm
Salinity - 1.025
pH - 8.2
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate - 0
Calcium - 400
Alkalinity - 10
Temp - (a bit high) 79-82

If Xenia flourishes in your tank, what your parameters?
I also would like to trade for xenia as well. I have green spaghetti, lots of pink/red, green strip, and other mushrooms, eye of rah zoas.

Your Phosphate reading is suspect to me. What means of testing are you using?

API Reef master. The test used to be light green (0.5 ppm) and I had to clean the green film algae every 3 days. Now it is light yellow after I add a 10 gal refugium with chaeto and green film algae is minimal.

Xenia simply will not grow in my SPS tank, in my softies and LPS tank it thrives like a weed. I feel it likes water thats a little "dirtier" than some tanks

My parameters are the same as your for the most part, some days certain parameters are higher or lower than others but all in all pretty much the same other than Alk. Mine is a bit lower in the 8.5 range. Pulsing xenia tends to grow like a weed in my tank and I am ripping it out more than I care to. I thought it would be a great idea to have my overflow covered in them but it hasn't worked out that way because they like to "walk".

I do have a pretty dominant SPS tank of which everything from SPS, to LPS to softies generally grow just fine.

What light are you running? I run MH and T5 combo. I also feed a lot of food to fish and coral.
