PO4 deficiancy screws up any coral that has symbiotic zooxanthellae, the colloqial terms "SPS" and "LPS" don't have any relavance. What happens is the zooxanthellae switch from phospholipids to sulpholipids. So it's more a case of what's happening at low PO4 levels that shouldn't be happening.

Phospholipids, sulpholipids, and etc. are gobbledy-gook to me. I'm not qualified to continue this discussion.

It is very complicated and getting more complicated the more we learn. But sticking to decades old assumptions just guarantees a continuation of high failure rates. If it simplifies things target reef normal levels not levels based on old assumptions and don't assume colloquial terms like "SPS" and "LPS" have any relevance to husbandry requirements.
