Do a search, brs tv did testing and found if changed frequently they work if not there is no difference between using or not

I use socks all the time. I hate seeing all that crap in my sump and mine is very difficult to clean.

I use a roller mat and it’s capturing gunk and my skimmer doesn’t pull out a lot. All in all, I like it, the mat does indeed get dirty so it’s pulling out something. I don’t know what it would be without it though.

Yeah I am using socks too. They get filthy and I couldn't imagine my sump without them either.
My Skimmer still pulls out some crud though.

My wife almost fainted when I said I was washing socks. Then I showed her my reef socks. She made some rude comment about all is still right in the world

Just did a WC and filter change (blue/white media & poly pad). Based on the feedback, I believe the consensus is no real difference with vs with out.

Looking at all the crud that is captured on the media pad along with the major overall dark tan to brown color of the poly pad, I'll be sticking with mechanical filtration. Still fighting off some algae with Vibrant dosing so I want the pads to catch any free floating crud.
