Clear water scrubber- noise

Got a clear water scrubber CW-50 and really annoyed with how noisy this thing is with the drain. Contacted them and they suggested adding a T with a cap on the end and drilling that to allow air to escape. While this got rid of some of the running water sound, it now is a pulsing kinda wheezing sound which is almost more annoying.

Anyone have suggestions for plumbing the drain on this to not be so insanely noisy?

Not sure what your model looks like, but I put a gate valve on my DIY algae scrubber. Quieted the drain right down. You can tune it like your tank drain so it doesn't slurp or suck air in.
