Think I've finally found my sweet spot.
2x2x2 cube. Hydra52 mounted 6" above water level. SPS dominated on central structure. UV 100% Violet 100% DB 100% RB 100% Green 43% Red 10% CW 43% 9 hours with 2hr ramps. DB @ 5% on lunar 1% lightening @20% 5% cloud cover @ 20% Would post pictures but everything comes out too purple on the phone camera

I've read through a lot of this thread and still haven't quite found what I'm looking for. I just set up a 20 gallon long with a Hydra 26 mounted 6" AWL and have been playing around with the settings on it but am still not quite sure where I should have things at. It's a new tank with no corals yet.
Here's where I'm at: UV 25% V 60% ROYAL 70% BLUE 70% GR 20% RD 20% W 33% 3.5 hr ramp on either side with 5 hr peak. Any recommendations? WL to sand bed is only 10" so if anything I'm running the light too high. |

I think that's a good starting point intensity wise but on a tank that shallow I would place the light at least 10-12" AWL. You want to give the light a chance to dispearse/mix before it enters the water. At 6" IMO it will be like trying to grow coral with a laser vs growing with imitation sun light. O and for reference I started my 52 about 8" AWL and have moved it up overtime to its current position about 13" AWL. And everytime I inched it higher (up to 13ish inches) odd shading growth diminished and corals colored up better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thoughts on my settings? Just got these lights and love them but trying to dial them in. Also thinking of turning the actual light for better dispersion? Running on an IM Nuvo 38 with zoas, softies and LPS.

I would definitely go for a more standard equatorial day with 4hr ramps and a 4 hr peak. As for intensity I think over time you are going to want to up the intensity to at least 30-40 white and 70-80 blue. For reference this is what I have been running for the past few months over a std. 29 gallon and I love it. Just remember a 2-1 blue to white ratio will put you around 18-20k spectrum while a 1-1 (like I run) puts you around 10-12k. I tend to like a whiter tank over a bluer one but it's all personal preference! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Orcus Varuna; 09/30/2016 at 03:49 AM. |

I have the first generation hydra and the blues have recently gone out. Anyone know if they still sell the upgrade to 52's? I'd hate for the things to just end up being scrap...

I did a search and didn't see it for sale anywhere but I would contact Ecotech and ask. I may have my problems with their policies but IME the representatives will do anything they can to help. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I had an old hydra 20, which had the white, green and royal blue go out, along with the fan. I sent it back to AI./ ecotech and for 250.00 sent me a brand new hydra 26HD. I thought that was more than fair.

I thought I would ask here first before contacting support. This morning I wrapped my tank as I have a Cyano problem,I also turned off all the lights on the app. When I got home I had one light on, all the others are off.Since I am not sure how to turn off just that one light I unplugged it.If I look at the devices it is showing two lights (child)with a little red exclamation mark. How do I find out what that is,and do you know why that one light did not shut off. I have 8 lights total,Hydra 52hd.

One of my power supplies just literally smoked on me on my 52's.
Actually smoking at the pin where it plugs into the light. |

hey everyone,
I have two HD Primes over my reefer 250. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some lighting settings. My tank is a mixed reef but its very light on SPS. Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. |

Completely depends on what look you are going for. 2-1 blue to white is approximately 20k while 1-1 is approximately 10k. I suggest shooting for a photoperiod of 12 hrs with 4hr ramps. If you like closer to 10-12k for color temperature I posted my schedule a few pages back! Hope this helps.
