Padding Recommendation for 65 gal Glass Tank
I have a 65 gal Reef Savvy rimless tank that I am getting ready to startup. It sits on a slab of granite. I want to protect it from cracking and read some use Yoga pads. Looking online there are 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch pads available. I received some 1/4 inch material and it seems like it would squish down a lot given the tanks weight. Should I go with the 1/2? TIA!

Reef savvy may recommend a specific one to maintain the warranty..
Give then a call.. Thickness by itself doesnt give all the details...Its mkre about the durometer of the foam..That defines houlw much weighf it can take

I'll give them a call tomorrow...my tank is 8 years old but I am sure they have a recommendation. I am not sure what the durometer of a yoga pad is - do you mean density? I went ahead and ordered a 1/2 inch pad - what the heck, its only $20.

I think that a 65 gallon of saltwater is very heavy for any mat.
Your best answer is to find out whether the granite is level or not; and if the bottom panel tempered/ strong enough to withstand any unevenness. |

8yrs old is a different story.. Any 1/2" yoga type pad "should" offer sufficient protection from stress points,etc... Others use that pink insulation foam sheets from the home improvement stores..
