Got my first live stock yesterday, super excited!!!!

Hi all,

At last, I was able to introduce my first fish, a orange tail damsel and 5 nassarius snails yesterday night. I could not see the snails though, they buried themselves inside sand. I saw 3 of them while I went to feed the fish. They were moving indeed that means not dead.

Until now, they are good going. I will try to get a decent picture by tomorrow and post.

I will also check the Calcium and alkalinity tonight, SG is 1.022-1.023. NO3 still 10-20 ppm, I do not know when marine pure block will start its magic to reduce NO3 but still waiting.

Got some activated carbon today, will place them in sump tonight. Was willing to get a maroon clown too, my wife really liked it but all of your suggestions against it and also LFS guy told that it should be the last fish to be introduced, I quit on it. It was too sexy to resist.

Also, there were some really cool yellow tangs, but the price was really high and I also I resisted myself.

You don't really need to worry about your alk or calc until you start focusing on corals. For now, your goal should be to maintain the salinity (I'd even bump up to 1.025 if possible) as well as your Nitrates, although 10 -20 ppm nitrates isn't bad.

Remember, damsels are also semi-aggressive and can cause issues. How large is your tank? Based on size of the tank though, this may not be a problem.

I have 4.5 feet tank, 2 feet wide and 1.5 feet height. It's almost 110 gallons. Sump size is approx 50 gallons.

Thanks a lot. Till now it is ok, the fish has started eating from yesterday, moves around all day long. I only see the snails when some food drops on the sand.

the nassarius snails only seem to come out at feeding time. They remind me of zombies coming out of the sand If you look close you can see a snorkel in the sand when they are buried.

alkalinity at 7.9 to 8.3---it IS important for fish and inverts.
