What is this on my snail?
This has been on my snail since I got him/her about 3 months ago. I just thought it was a shell deformation till I shined a light on it the other day and it moved (shut like a clam against the snail shell). It doesn't move spots on the snail or move to different snails. Just want to know what it is. The picture shows it open.

I don't think so. It's built like a clam or muscle and never moves from that spot on the snail.

Maybe I'm thinking a chiton? I cannot think of the type of invert....its like a snail but the shell is like half a pistachio nut shell.
It just looks like something hitch hiking on the snail....but odd that it has not moved in months. Have you tried plucking it off? Curiosity would have made me do that long ago

No haven't tried pulling it off. Until 2 days ago I thought it was a shell deformation. I might try pulling it off now that u say that. Are they good for the tank/snail or bad?
