Dr. James Wood - Speaking in the #reefs chatroom this Sunday!
Sunday, August 5th, 8:00 PM (EST) in the #reefs chatroom - Dr. James Wood -
"An Introduction to Cephalopods (octopus, cuttlefish and squid)" In addition to Dr. Wood's talk, we have posted his Powerpoint presentation online for all to read - and follow along during his seminar. The address of the presentation will be provided during the talk. Dr. James B. Wood is a marine biologist and professional underwater photographer. All marine invertebrates fascinate him but cephalopods are his favorites. James has kept aquatic animals since he was four; he captured and kept his first octopus while in high school. He publishes scientific work but also makes time to write popular articles and web sites and give presentations to museums, aquariums and clubs. James is currently working on CephBase - http://www.cephbase.utmb.edu/ at the National Resource Center for Cephalopods - http://www.nrcc.utmb.edu/ at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. If you wish to read more information on Dr. Wood, please see: http://is.dal.ca/~ceph/JWood/cv.html For more information on cephalopods, see: The Cephalopod Page: http://is.dal.ca/~ceph/TCP/ CephBase: http://www.cephbase.utmb.edu/ For those of you that have never attended an internet chat, we have set up a special program on our site so that you can connect directly to the chatroom, however, it only works with the newest versions of Netscape and Internet Explorer. Point your browser to: www.reefs.org/access/jchat For information about connecting to the #reefs chatroom using other programs, or using the MAC, see http://www.reefs.org/access/index.html Hope to see you there! Sincerely, James Wiseman |
