In one question they tell the person the height is 26.50" BUT in another question they tell the person the inside dimension is 28.88" in height, so the inside is higher then the outside!
Sorry...I built mine into a hallway corner closet (two sides exposed, other two back to fudge and makeup/salt water). You should be able to get the dimensions online somewhere...surely someone has this stand.

That's an awesome looking tank.

Here comes the dumb question of the day; what is ramp time? I have an idea what it might be but not 100% sure

ramp time is how long it take the lights to hit max and min values, i use it in place of sunrise sunset since sunrise sunset is voided when using region settings.

And to be clear, the "ramp" starts at the start time, and ends at the end time plus the ramp time.

So, if you did a startup time at 8am, and had a 3 hour ramp, things would "ramp up" from whatever their settings were at 8am (from the previous timer) to their final values at 11am. If you had shutdown time at 10pm, it would "ramp down" starting at 10pm to 1am (probably not what you want...so you "back off" the ramp time from when you want the ramp to "end", and set that as the start of the shutdown. In other words, if "lights out" was desired at 10pm, with a 3 hour ramp you would start the shutdown at 7pm.

If this is done via "easy setup" it will adjust other timers accordingly. I think the easy setup is one of the cooler functional features of the controller.

Thank you both for that answer that's kinda what I thought it was but better to ask a dumb question than remain a dumb person.

Here's an always good question that always get a huge variance of answers: how long do you have your lights on? My current LED(old school 1watt 120 watt fixture) is on from 8am to 6pm but I constantly worry that it's not enough or too much(hence my hair algae bloom)

JCS11236 It looks great!

How did you come up with those numbers?

I don't know. Lol. Just messing around with the settings the past 2 weeks and that's the color I like the best. That is correct hilgert. My end time is 6:30 but with the ramp down it is 10pm until all lights off except 1% royal moonlight all night

I love the ramping feature the most. That the main reason I bought these leds. It makes sunrise/sunset so natural.

I try my hardest to simulate time as it would be in the ocean. that being said my lights come up with the sunrise and hit lunar cycle at sundown. i monitor sunrise sunset times and usually adjust my ramp time weekly. So 7am -9pm thereabout my lights would be on during summer and probably 8am -8pm for winter. my Beta Director arrives tomorrow and i should be able to pull real time weather and times.

These forums need a "like" feature, unless there is one and I just am missing it

I have a Rate this Thread link on the upper right of the page, just above the first post...right next to the Thread Tools and Search this Thread links. You guys don't have that?

EDIT: Actually, I rated it (gave it 5 stars... ), but I can't see that it did anything. I thought I remembered it being a feature in the past, but I could be confusing this with another non-reef forum I am on (my other expensive hobby...model aircraft).

It is there but that would be for an entire thread. There should be one to like individual comments to the threads!

OK I tweaked mine based on your exhaustive research - Whites 25% Green 15% Red-10% Blue and deep blue 60% Uv 45% Violet 50% Ramp time 3 hrs.
Really liking it....so are the inhabitants.

Cool. I'm glad you like it. Not sure what lights you had before but these current setting are pretty strong so be careful you don't bleach anything. The blues may not look strong but they will bleach

Ok, I may or may not have some useful information about the Hydra, I will let you be the judge. I spoke to AI today and this is what I wrote down form the conversation, hopefully I got it correct and do not misspeak anything. These are not direct quotes, these are my notes.

Start time = the time the light comes on and begins to ramp up.
Ramp time = how long for the light to go from minimum to your max setting or vice versa.
Sunset = time the light starts to ramp down.
Example: Sunrise 6 am sunset 6 pm ramp time 2 hrs. The light comes on at 6am, at 8 am it is at your max power setting, at 6 pm it starts to ramp down at 8 pm it is at the low setting.

Region settings: Used as a dynamic day (sunrise to sunset) for the selected region. As the day gets longer or shorter for that region so will your tanks day. If you go into easy setting after selecting a region and change the times, you have deactivated the region setting. NO change is made to the lights output settings.

Manual Timer setup:
You can use this to add specific function to your light, say you have a sunrise of 6 am and sunset 6pm and a night intensity of 5% blue. If you want to use the lunar cycle but want it from 1 am to 5 am (it just an example!!) you can set a new timer to have the light at zero from 8 pm to 1am. Then at 1 am when the moon rises you will get whatever intensity the moon is in its cycle up to 5%, so full moon is 5% half-moon would be…well you get it….I hope.

I hope this helps some of you, it has helped me.

Any other hydra users getting good growth and coloration? What are your settings?

Mine are 10 inches above the water. I want the tank as bright as possible, without bleaching my corals of course

Thanks, all have shown growth but since these two looked to have been receding, they were the most noticeable.

Just set my Hydra up but does the controller need to stay plugged in and on for my timer to run? I set the easy mode timer last night and woke up this morning with the night lights on and no ramp til I plugged the controller in...
