Put a gyre on the overflow box today. I been wanting some flow between the 2 islands. I would prefer a vortech in a dry box but I have heard great things on the gyre flow. While I do like the flow so far, I HATE the cord coming out the top of my tank. It's not really rimless, but eurobraced and no canopy. So I like the clean look of the top of the tank, with no wires hanging out of it. Time will tell if I keep it or what I do.
I will say, the gyre flow with the bubbles from the stone, they really get spread around great. Moved a few frags around, will try to post some pictures tomorrow. Corey |

Just keep the gyre clean. Anything gets in with the propeller and it's toast.
Shielding it from light is probably good if you can do it. |

I pulled my vortech offline to clean them since the gyre is online now. If ecotech is somehow reading this....kudos to you folks. Today is the first day I've cleaned these mp40s in 26 months. They were coated in coraline, in fact they were red/purple in color. Had stuff growing all over them and in them. Just disgusting but they were humming along like champs. I love that!!!mit need to upgrade to mp60's as the tank grows out. But I live the durability of the product. Makes the upfront price more justifiable for hose that question the steep cost.

For a euro brace those vortechs are perfect.

Yeah, they just keep that clean look on top. Luckily for me, when GEO built my tank he put a hole in the brace on the back wall. For closed loop or whatever. I'm using it now to run the wire through, makes it less noticeable.

Was away on vacation and came home to my reeflo goby bold screeching. A god awful sound, but it doesn't appear to be leaking, any idea on that it could be. I am reaching out to them as well.

HAHA... I love my mp40's. All sorts of things on mine too and they keep on kicking. I like to watch it all come off in a vinegar bath.

not sure, i will have to look it up. my apex is at neptune getting fixed now, and i had to replace my goby gold to a dart, then my MP40's stopped working and I am getting ready to ship them out. been a tough equipment month.
but i am switching out my 250 halide for a 400 watt radium today or tomorrow to try it out. i will raise the fixture an inch or so and increase spread and try not to fry anything in the tank. corey |

Ahh nice. Sorry about the problems.
I just came home today and a mp40 was blinking red and white... Unplug and replug and it started right up. Strange. Might swap it out over the weekend. How will that affect your electric bill? LOL

Well it will raise it a little. I was running the 250 so not much. Plus I won't need any actinic lighting now

I did. It looks great. I really don't need the actinics now. Way more par too, I'm going to raise it a few inches today to get more spread.

400 watt radium is working out good. things look and growing still. Also added 6 baby clown fish in an attempt to rehome my 2, however, i cannot catch them and they all get along well. they all have the same parents as i buy them local but the 2 are 4 years older. but so far everyone is fine............
got two new wetsides for my vortechs and will have them reprogrammed in the near future to the apex. i need pictures...... corey |
