Smile Niger Trigger

Hi I have a 80 gallon fish only setup i have a porqupine puffer fish, a unicorn tang, yellow eyed kole, panther grouper, anthias, snowflake eel, a cardnal, and a flounder. They are all very small versions of these fish the biggest is the porquine which is only 3". I would like to add a Niger triger to my collection there is one at my pet store that is one in half inches do you think it would do ok in my tank. In a few months i would be purchasing 300 gallon fish tank.

Obviously you know that if you don't get the bigger tank soon, there will be problems. Take into account that it can take a long time to get a big tank up and running.

Typing this doesn't even sound right, lol. What would be the purpose in getting a Niger before you set up a big tank? It sure wouldn't benefit the fish.

Niger triggers aren't rare; you'll have plenty of other opportunities to get one when you have the appropriate tank set up. Not only do those larger tanks take a little while to get going, as noted above, there's usually a delay in getting them set up to begin with.

Actually a 300 gallon tank is probably not large enough for a unicorn tang. I have a 350 gallon tank and would never consider homing one.

I really suggest you get the 300 running before you purchase another fish...

Agree with both posts.

Since you'll have to catch the fish for the upgrade anyway, it would be a good time to trade in the unicorn.

I also agree with getting the 300 gallon running first. As mentioned, Niger Triggers aren't rare and you'll have another opportunity to get one.

I agree with all of the above. Just to pick one example: P. Groupers grow incredibly fast and get ugly in both attitude and appearance IMO. This grouper will eat any anthias or cardinal in time; probably sooner that you expect. A 1.5" trigger wouldn't be safe with the grouper or flounder (depending on size) either. Cramped quarters increase aggression and I think you're about ready to start losing fish. First will be the grouper eating small fish or the flounder will start eating small fish or be picked to shreds by the puffer---they love to play with bottom dwellers. Please slow down and enjoy your fish; you're about ready to start losing them; IMO & IME.
