Can someone recommend an aquarium filter?

I recently upgraded my tank from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon and I'm now looking to upgrade my filter. I currently have the marina slim and I love it bc I can add my own filter media too it and I don't have to buy the stupid cartridges.

I want a filter that can go up to at least 30 gallons bc of what I plan to stock and aqadvisor.com said that a 30 gallon filter would have enough filter capacity.

Here's my issue though marina doesn't have a 30 gallon filter that I can find. I want a filter I can add my own filter media too bc I don't want to buy filter cartridges.

Take a look at an HOB power filter. Seachem makes these new Tidal filters in conjunction with Sicce that look promising as they have a built in surface skimmer, flow adjustment and you are not tied to proprietary filter cartridges. It’s like a modernized version of the venerable Aquaclear HOB power filter.
