I would like to know opinions or experiences on using skimmers in a planted tank. I had one on my 55 but took it out to use on another tank. I dont see much difference so far. Any ideas?

it would depend on the mix of corals you have or might have in their and the bioload of your fish.

eg alot of lps and softies would probably like the increased organics in the water but sps corals probably would not.

I knew that was going to happen. Once I saw the pic with the zoa's and then the brain . . .

I did the same thing myself a few years back. Now I just have two tanks, one planted and one reef. He'll be back.

lol pledo, soo true. i started putting a few corals in my tank mixing it with macros.. bad move the macros were overgrowing the corals so a lot of the fast growing macros had to go.

what a shame if he did change the setup.. i just came back from snorkeling on a shallow reef, is anyone here has never seen a reef in person his aquarium looked exactly like a healthy reef, i wondered tho, did he leave his lights on 24/7? also, do you really need a CO2 injector?

Everytime I see this thread, I know it was a good choice to set up macroalgae (and soft corals) tank. Thanks!
