Highly unimpressed. 10-15% off on prices, IMO, that are already very overinflated for aquarium supplies. Anyone see anything worth it?

Smarthome offered 20% on insteon and claimed it was the biggest sale of the year -- but I know they offer 20% off discounts on that equipment at least 5-6 times a year.

Ok... that is motivation for getting off the couch and hitting some local stores. I was talking about the internet ;-).

I would have gone to ABC if I still lived in Fayetteville. Now in Rochester, it is a little distant to go for a 5am start ;-).

It’s all about scale and supply chain. These companies sell expensive stuff but their margins are not what you think because in the grand scheme of things they are mostly small niche companies that are compilers of parts from suppliers. Ecotech doesn’t make the motors of their pumps, the diodes in their leds, computer boards etc. and the have huge software development costs. Making software like apex fusion and ecotech reef link is not a cheap endeavor. Finally take Microsoft for example which just dropped the price of the Xbox one s to 189.99 for the Holliday season which analysts predict will allow them to move an additional million consoles over the Holliday season. If ecotech dropped the price of an mp10qdw to say 199 for the Holliday it would not generate enough additional sales to make up for the baseline hit of the price drop on their bottom line.

The only place in town just has 20% off all day.

I was having beers with the owner earlier. The prices have been set for weeks. WYSIWYG, discounts then applied. I assure you, get there early, you’ll get awesome deals. I might be there bagging stuff for them. It goes fast.
